IMWA and the Organising Committee believe it is essential for young scientists and engineers to actively engage in the field of mine water management. To encourage this, IMWA presents cash prizes for the best technical papers authored and presented by students. We warmly welcome participation from students worldwide.

• Awards
  • PhD course category: 1st prize €750, 2nd prize €500
  • BSc/MSc course category: 1st prize €750, 2nd prize €500
  • Poster category: 1st prize €500
• Evaluation criteria: Quality of the submitted paper and oral presentation skills
• Eligibility: Applicants must be full-time students
  • Proof of student status and institutional contact details will be required

Prizes will be awarded during the Closing Ceremony.
We believe this award will motivate students and young researchers worldwide to contribute meaningful and original work in line with the conference themes.

To support student participation at IMWA 2026, IMWA will offer up to three travel scholarships of €600 each.

• Eligibility: Students who wish to attend IMWA 2026 but require financial assistance
• Application: Submit an email to IMWA General Secretary, Elke Mugova (e.mugova@IMWA.info), outlining your participation plan and needs
• Evaluation: Applications will be reviewed by the IMWA Executive Council based on the submitted email
• Priority: Preference will be given to students presenting a paper rather than those only attending
• Deadline: 31 December 2025
