IMWA 2026 Abstract Submission Guidelines
The International Mine Water Association (IMWA) and the Organizing
Committee invite all mine water professionals to submit abstracts for
presentation at IMWA 2026 (5–10 July 2026, Jeongseon High1 Resort, Korea).
Abstract Preparation
  • Abstracts (maximum 400 words) must be submitted online via the ConfTool conference management system.
  • To submit an abstract, you must first create a ConfTool account and select the relevant conference topic for your submission.
01
Recommended Abstract Structure (within 400 words)
  1. Paragraph 1 – Significance: Why is this research important?
  2. Paragraph 2 – Methods: Originality of approach and conducted research methods.
  3. Paragraph 3 – Key Results: Main findings of the research.
  4. Paragraph 4 – Applications and Implications: Potential applications and broader significance of the study.
02
Important Notes
  • Abstracts should be at least 300 words; shorter abstracts may receive lower evaluation scores.
  • It is strongly recommended to have your abstract proofread by a proficient English speaker. Short abstracts, English errors, or non-compliance with the structure may reduce your score.
  • When pasting your abstract into ConfTool, remove the title, author names, and affiliations. Do not include funding information or acknowledgments.
  • Avoid using bullet points (•); follow the paragraph structure above. Do not use subheadings.
03
Submission and Registration
  • Abstract submission and conference registration are conducted via ConfTool.
  • For login issues, please refer to the Login Hints section.
04
Review and Policy
  • All submitted abstracts undergo a peer-review process consistent with IMWA publications.
  • IMWA applies a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism.

Review Criteria
Submitted abstracts are reviewed anonymously by three experts from the International Scientific Committee (ISC).
01
Reviewers evaluate each abstract based on their expertise using six criteria:
1. Content
2. Significance
3. Originality
4. Relevance
5. Presentation quality
6. Recommendation
02
Each criterion is scored between 0 and 10 points, and abstracts are classified as follows:
  • Oral presentation: approximately 6–10 points
  • Poster presentation: approximately 4–6 points
  • Rejected: approximately 0–4 points
03
Reviewers may adjust the final recommendation via an internal comment system regardless of the numeric score.
For example
  • Oral presentation: approximately 6–10 points
  • Poster presentation: approximately 4–6 points
  • Rejected: approximately 0–4 points
Abstract Quality Control
Before abstracts are sent to reviewers, IMWA performs quality control checks based on experience from previous conferences. The automated process verifies the following:
01
Is the abstract fewer than 270 words?
02
Does it contain fewer than three paragraphs?
03
Does it avoid the phrase “heavy metals”?
04
Are units such as “ppm” or “ppb” avoided?
05
If no statistical validation is provided, does it avoid using “significant”?
06
When using the word “impact”, is it only applied in the context of environmental impact?
Please note that this automated process may occasionally produce false results. We appreciate your understanding. Due to the high volume of submissions, individual verification of all abstracts is not feasible.
